Mrs. Sunny Merritt

Hi there!

Sunny Merritt is the School Counselor for Park County School District #16, where she works with students and families from kindergarten through high school. She helps students navigate academics, build healthy social-emotional skills, explore careers, and prepare for life after graduation. As needed, Sunny also provides short-term, solution-focused mental and emotional support to help students manage challenges and build healthy coping skills. She coordinates dual-enrollment opportunities, scholarship support, and works with teachers to provide community-based learning experiences. With a background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she values connection, collaboration, and helping students feel seen, supported, and capable as they grow.

About Me

I love helping students recognize their strengths and discover what’s possible for their future. I believe school counseling is most effective when students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to be themselves. I love to help our teachers with building opportunities for students to explore careers, build confidence, and learn skills that will carry them well beyond the classroom. Outside of school, I enjoy working in my flower beds, being in the mountains and outdoors, fishing, camping, reading, and spending time with my wonderful family.

Student and Family Tools

The resources and partners listed below are here to support our students and families in every part of their journey. Each tool is designed to provide guidance, connection, and practical help, whether you are looking for academic support, personal counseling, mental health services, or community assistance. Our goal is to make sure every student and family has access to the right support at the right time, so together we can continue building a strong, caring, Life Ready community.
